Anamorphic Cube

Head Instructor

Head Instructor is an anamorphic sculpture made of 144 hand-painted glass strips, which stands on a rotating platform. With each 90° rotation, one of four fragmented images assembles and disintegrates again. The glass strips are inserted into the laser-cut slots of a wooden base. All image fragments were painted onto the strips with the same colours used in traditional glass painting.

The installation is characterised by a playful approach to themes such as the inner and outer world, identity, subjectivity and looking behind the façade.

The project was originally initiated by a Ukrainian group for the promotion of art and should have been realised as a large installation in Kiev's public space in 2018. As this ultimately did not happen, the sculpture was realised on a smaller scale.
