Emulsifier

The "Emulsifier" is a hand-painted anamorphic sculpture consisting of 160 glass strips. When the installation is rotated, one of four hidden images appears every 90 degrees. The cube-shaped object has a side length of approx. 35cm.

The title comes from the emulsion (a homogeneous mixture of two normally immiscible liquids) and refers to several aspects of the installation: at first glance, biological and technological elements are mixed together in the images. In addition, the images themselves perform an emulsion as well as its reversion by continuously disintegrating, mixing and then demixing again. Last but not least, the installation itself is an amalgamation of artistically creative and technically planned approaches.
The Emulsifier is an artistic answer to the question of how art and science can be brought out of an apparent contradiction into an interplay, into an emulsion.
